Gen. Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Usman Baba, Inspector-General of Police; and other service chiefs are currently meeting behind closed doors at Force headquarters in Abuja.
The present strategic discussion is part of the attempts by security experts to liberate passengers from an Abuja-Kaduna bound train who were kidnapped precisely a month ago.
On condition of anonymity, a source said that pressure has been exerted on security personnel to release the hostages before Eid-el-Fitr or face being sanctioned by the President.
According to the source, the conference will also cover strategic preparations for the next election, in light of the recent warning from the Department of State Service (DSS) that terrorists are intending to bomb religious centers and public areas.
”What I know is that the chiefs are meeting to free Kaduna train attack victims. I mean hostages of those terrorists. Security for the next general elections may likely be considered as well,” the source said.
