The Presidency has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is prepared to end the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, strike.
Femi Adesina, Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, said the president was willing to end the ASUU strike “once and for all.”
On Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, he argued that the university lecturers’ strike had been ongoing for several years.
“Buhari appealed to ASUU to consider the plight of those young ones. It shows that the President is ready to have this matter resolved once and for all,” he said.
Adesina disclosed that the President was seeking a lasting solution to the strike, adding that there have been industrial actions “under everyone”.
This is coming after Buhari urged ASUU to end the ongoing industrial action.
Buhari urged ASUU to consider the plight of the students and called off the industrial action.
ASUU has been on strike since February 2022.
However, the academic body on Monday extended its ongoing roll-over strike by another three months.
